Spiral Field (2026)
Works on Paper / Serial Drawings

Developed through repeated placement of an evolving mark, the work accumulates into rotating structures where form emerges through duration rather than intention. It does not depict a spiral—it becomes one through process.

Each work records a distinct phase within an ongoing system.

Core Concept

Each drawing is constructed through an iterative system in which a single gesture is repeated, adjusted, and reoriented. This gradual accumulation generates a field of rotational movement without a fixed centre, where structure arises from density, proximity, and rhythm. The process is deliberately restrained. There is no compositional planning in advance—only a sustained negotiation between control and drift. What appears as a coherent form is the result of extended time embedded within the surface.

Process Insight

The spiral is not treated as an image or symbol, but as a condition that emerges through repetition. Small deviations within each mark introduce variation, preventing mechanical regularity while maintaining continuity.

This creates a tension between:

  • system and improvisation

  • order and instability

  • accumulation and release

The work unfolds slowly, requiring duration both in its making and in its viewing.

Installation View

When presented together, the drawings function as an installation.
Each work records a distinct phase of accumulation, allowing the viewer to encounter variations in density, rotation, and spatial tension across the series.

Critical Response

“The intersection of simple gestures and generative systems is compelling. I’m interested in how these structural rhythms translate onto the surface."

— Niladri Sarker, CEO Terravarna

Closing Line

The work is less concerned with representation than with the slow construction of a spatial condition through time.
